how to remove a ball joint without a press

Is there a way in removing the lower balljoint without using a special tools like c clamps? All i can see in youtube is all of theme using specialtool(C clamps) here in our province I have never seen tools like that.

Don't think you need any special tools on a 1999 Honda Civic DX.

thanks but I've already seen these video many times, in other models the lower balljoint is not connected in the nuckle its connected in the chassis right? so you cant remove it and put it in your vice, what is the technique in removing that without Cclamps and airtools, just a regular hammer. I realy want to learn that… please eric help me with these. thanks a lot. Im your #1 fan stay dirt…

I had to replace every ball joint on a Thunderbird that I just bought. I found that it was almost as cheap and a-lot easier just to buy a new lower control arm. You also have the added bonus of having new bushings etc… My lower control arms were about $50 each with new ball joints and bushings. Much easier than trying to replace just the joint.

I rebuilt the entire front suspension (minus the struts which were fine… go figure) for about $550. New upper and lower control arms, sway bar links, and inner and outer tie rods.

Now if I can just get it running right, I should be golden.

What type of vehicle are trying to remove the ball joint from ?

If it's the type that's in the lower control arm and it doesn't have a snap ring it's much easier to just replace the lower control arm rather than trying to get the old one out and new one in without at least a press. The right tools make the job sometimes.
